Update: January 2, 2018

Welles

Good evening, friends and interwubbians. Two things which I wanted to bring to your attention. The first is that my latest video essay, “How Orson Welles Starts A Movie”, has been uploaded to Youtube. I’ll spare you the saga of its construction. I will say that the transition between 2018 and 2019 was, due to circumstances not wholly separate from the experience, rather an interesting one. I was reminded that I am not, in fact, nineteen anymore. “Thank goodness!” said Bilbo laughing, and handed him the tobacco-jar

For a number of reasons, I have decided not to try to translate this particular endeavor into the written form. I would urge anyone interested in seeing it to follow the link for the video here.

Second, welcome to January. Last year, I kept semi-careful track of all the movies that I watched. In 2018, I wracked up a total of eighty-eight movies. Of those, I have selected a list of twenty-four [24 Frames, twenty-four films, natch] for a project I’m calling The January Blitz!. Twenty-four films. Thirty-one days. One review to rule them all. What is with the Tolkien references tonight, man? What indeed.

For those interested to know what I’ll be up to for the next four weeks, or heck, want to accompany me for part of the journey, the list can be found below. Happy New Year, one and all.
